Losing your license may greatly affect your future career, but only if you failed to hire a nurse attorney for your case. There are some RNs and LVNs who missed their chances to get their license saved from revocation just because they weren’t able to hire any nurse attorney to properly defend them.  This RN from Waxahachie, Texas happens to be one of them.

On or about November 2015, while employed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in a medical facility in Waxahachie, Texas, the RN withdrew medications from the medication dispensing system for patients in excess frequency and dosage of the physician’s orders. Furthermore, after being questioned by facility staff, she admitted that she needed help.

The RN’s conduct was likely to injure the patients in that the administration of medications in excess frequency and/or dosage of the physicians’ orders could result in the patients suffering from adverse reactions.

During the hearing, the RN states she became dependent on opiates after having three surgeries following her pregnancy and being prescribed opiates for pain. She relates she made a very poor and terrible decision that led to diversion. The RN explains she subsequently self-referred to the Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses but was unable to complete the program due to financial hardship.

However, without enough evidence to support her case and a nurse attorney to help her, she was discipline. Thus, the Texas Board of Nursing subjected her license for revocation.
