Nurses are always at risk for accusations of medical malpractice or negligence.  If someone filed a complaint against you, your license could be put in danger if not defended by a San Antonio nurse attorney. An LVN from San Antonio, Texas is just one of the many examples of nurses who were charged with negligence and failed to hire an effective San Antonio nurse attorney.

This is exactly what happened to an LVN in San Antonio. Read on to find out her case.

On or about October 24, 2018, while employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a medical facility in San Antonio, the LVN failed to administer the correct dosage of medication to a patient, in that she administered Propranolol 7 drams (25.87 ml), instead of 7 ml, as ordered. Subsequently, the student required EMS transport to the hospital, and spent the night in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to be monitored for a low heart rate. Her conduct was likely to injure the patient from adverse effects due to possible over dosage of medication.

In response to the incident, the LVN admits she accidentally administered the wrong dose of Propranolol, giving the student 7 drams, instead of 7 milliliters, because she was told that the syringe usually used was not available so she did not measure the medication in the syringe provided by the student’s parents. She states that she was returning to the classroom and her assigned patients when she passed the school clinic and noticed that the school nurse was very busy. She states she was asked to administer heart medication to the patient, and was told by the school nurse to use a medication cup instead of the syringe.

However, without an effective San Antonio nurse attorney to help her defend her side, the LVN was suspended by the Texas Board of Nursing.
